Upcoming "Meet The Artist" Events

Stop by, meet the artists and see their new work.

Ellen Kaiden:

Saturday, July 17 -18, 1 - 4 pm

"I am drawn to watercolor as a medium because it is spontaneous and uncontrollable. The thought that you can capture motion and color in water adds to the medium's excitement. My paintings are full of life and movement; they have an architectural but vitreous quality. Every time I pick a subject to paint, I enjoy finding its form and ultimately its sensuality."

Ellen attended Philadelphia College of Art and studied painting with Will Barnet. Additional education included private study with Herbie Rose in Sarasota, Florida and Johanna Salomon in Bergen County, New Jersey. Ellen also has studied at Beaux Arts, Paris, France, the Interlaken School in Lenox, Massachusetts, and the Art Students League and the New School in NYC.  She  is a full time painter, with studios in Sarasota, Florida and the Berkshires, and a Gallery Artist at The Lenox Gallery.

Stephen Filmus

August 7 -8 : 1-5 PM

"Inspiration for my artwork comes from my affinity for nature and the realist tradition of landscape painting. The hills, rivers, forests and changing seasons of the Berkshires are my subject.
I venture into my surroundings and explore the possibilities"

Stephen Filmus has lived and worked in the Berkshires for many years where he has established his reputation and following. His work is in numerous private and public collections.

Filmus paints landscapes that reflect his artistic sensibilities, but also works on commissions for those who want a painting of a specific scene. He develops an artwork that satisfies the integrity of his style while creating an image that his clients envision.

Flower Dreams V - Oil on Linen by Lydia Johnston

Lydia Johnston:

Saturday, August 21, 1 - 5 pm

"Color is my passion. My goal is to create a scene you want to step into. When you look at one of my paintings, I want you to sink into it and be transported."

Lydia Johnston has lived and worked in southern Vermont for the past thirty years. Much of her inspiration comes from the passing seasons and the meadows surrounding her home. Her oil landscapes are impressionistic. Her goal is to capture the mood of the moment, to create the sense of a place without providing all the details, drawing you back continually to find something new. Her work has been exhibited throughout the country and hangs in many private collections.
